CASC's academic assessment model features a course-embedded assessment of student learning. In each course, student learning outcomes (SLOs) are assessed by direct measures and associated targets that are incorporated into the course curriculum. Throughout each semester, faculty employ assessment software to enter findings that assess whether those SLOs were met or not met. Based upon program curriculum, required program courses feature SLOs that align with a specific program outcome. This direct measure of assessment uses SLO findings to indicate the performance of program outcomes. Currently program division chairs and faculty are working on redefining and strengthening program outcomes and associated SLOs, measures, and targets in order to produce more meaningful data for program improvement. Each semester student surveys are used to gain feedback on student engagement and satisfaction on various aspects of academic instruction. The CASC OSRHE Annual Student Assessment Report of 2016-2017 Activity provides insight on those methods of program assessment.
